RICHLAND, Wash. — Learn about the vision for higher education and economic development Nov. 12 at the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Hours.
The event is presented by Washington State University Tri-Cities and the Tri-Cities Research District from 4 to 6 p.m. at WSU Tri-Cities in the Consolidated Information Center (CIC/Library) at WSU Tri-Cities, 2770 University Drive, Richland. Admission is free and open to the public.
Business After Hours includes a brief program at 4:30 p.m., photos with WSU mascot Butch T. Cougar, campus tours led by students, and door prizes including Cougar Cheese and a $500 scholarship for a WSU Tri-Cities student.
WSU Tri-Cities set a record this fall with more than 1,500 students — the fastest growing and most diverse campus in the WSU system. Recent international searches brought experts in bioproducts and wine science to campus for signature programs in addition to the degree programs in business, computer science, education, engineering, liberal arts, nursing and the sciences. The regional campus offers 17 bachelor’s, 13 master’s and six doctoral degrees.
The Tri-Cities Research District is a 1,600-acre mixed-use area where more than 7,000 people work. It is the Pacific Northwest’s center of technology invention and advancement, designated by Washington’s Governor as an Innovation Partnership Zone. This is where people with ideas create commercially viable technologies that solve problems, with a focus on energy and the environment.
