PULLMAN, Wash. – Northwest Public Radio’s “Super Thursday” fund drive – an effort to raise as much in donations in a single day as in previous weeklong drives - proved record-breaking, exceeding the record amount of donations raised in any previous week-long drive.
About 2,450 listeners made pledges yesterday, exceeding the event’s goal of 2,200 pledges. The total amount pledged was more than $266,000, greater than Northwest Public Radio’s previous weeklong fundraising record of $235,000 in the fall of 2006.
“We heard from our audience that they would prefer shorter fund-raising drives, so we decided to take a chance on a one-day fund drive, “said Roger Johnson, station manager of Northwest Public Radio. “The response from our listeners was phenomenal.”
Those who still want to contribute to the drive may do so online at www.nwpr.org or by calling (800) 842-8991.
Northwest Public Radio is a 13-station regional network operated as a public service of Washington State University.
