PULLMAN, Wash.- Washington State University will host the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition Nov. 10-24 at the Holland and Terrell Libraries Atrium.

On display will be thirty posters, donated by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, showing the destruction that occurred under the mushroom clouds when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed by the United States in Aug. 1945.

The opening reception will take place from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 12 in the Holland and Terrell Libraries Atrium and is open to the public.

During the exhibition, two animated films will be shown, “Barefoot Gen”, released in 1983, and “Barefoot Gen 2”, released in 1986. The films, created by Japanese manga (comic) artist and writer Keiji Nakazawa, are a cartoon story of a young boy who survived the atomic bomb in Hiroshima.

“Barefoot Gen” will be shown Nov. 12 and Nov. 17. “Barefoot Gen 2” will be shown Nov. 13 and Nov. 19. All showings are free to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in Todd Auditorium room 276.

The exhibition and film presentations are sponsored by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, WSU Asia Program, ICU-WSU Peace and Security Research Partnership, the College of Liberal Arts, the Thomas S. Foley Institute for Public Policy and Public Service, International Programs, the Department of History and the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures.
